This website, jacksonvilleallergycenter.com came to be because of an interest in researching how to eat healthier. It wasn’t really a business idea at first. Early in our marriage my wife developed some allergies, and in particular, she developed an allergy to wheat. She began making her own bread using spelt and became very creative with her menu planning, as “wheat free” and “gluten free” were not popular items back then. My wife has always been the healthy one in our family. Many years ago, even before it was popular, my wife started a food co-op where she collected orders from the community. Healthy products were delivered to us, separated out and distributed to the members of the co-op.
She did a fantastic job of raising our children in a healthy environment. Although I was supportive and an active participant, I can honestly say that I was not an actual promoter. The kids always knew that they could go to dad for the “not so healthy” stuff. Sometimes they were in the mood for something other than zucchini cookies, zucchini pancakes, and spelt bread, and they could count on dad to give in to the junk food. So what does all of this have to do with web site? Well, not too long ago my wife was out of town and I turned on the tube and somehow ended up watching two movies. I watched “FOOD, Inc.” and “Tapped”.
If you haven’t seen these movies, I highly recommend them. Since I watched those movies, we have not and will not ever buy another bottle of water. Also, since watching the movies, I have not had a glass of milk, nor have I eaten any red meat, and these are just a few changes. I am not promoting anything, I’m just telling you how this site came about. I started looking at labels a lot closer, and started researching where to get healthy food. To make a long story short, I found some great suppliers of healthy and organic food and started buying from them. Then we put together jacksonvilleallergycenter.com as a convenient place to purchase our food and make it available for our friends, family, and anyone interested in buying healthy food. You will find that some of the products on this site are available in some local stores and some are hard-to-find products.
We couldn’t put everything we’ve found on the site, so if you might be looking for something not on the site, shoot us an email and we’ll try to find it. We’ve also tried to make available those products that are competitively priced. Should you see a product on the site that is overpriced, please send us an email and we will either try to get a better price or just eliminate that product.
Sign up for our newsletter and we’ll pass along some specials whenever we find them. And don’t worry, we are not into spamming or selling anybody your email address. We send out an email when we have some specials, usually once or twice a month.
